Lovande resultat för Airsonett AIR4 vid behandling av barn med svårt allergiskt eksem presenterade på EAACI

Allergic eczema (also called atopic dermatitis) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting up to 20% of children. Severe allergic eczema inflicts a substantial burden on patients and their families. Children and parents are burdened with time-consuming topical treatment regimens. In addition, many families have to deal with a significant loss of sleep related to night-time itching and scratching.

The TLA device has previously been shown to significantly reduce the amount of inhaled allergens and other potential trigger factors in the breathing zone over night, leading to decreased symptoms and improved quality of life in patients suffering from allergic asthma.^2-4

The current study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of overnight treatment with the TLA device (Airsonett) in children and adolescents with severe allergic eczema over a 12-month period.

Fifteen children (2-16 years) with longstanding severe allergic eczema (atopic dermatitis) were followed during a 12-month treatment period. The study results included significant improvements in SCORring of Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) index, Investigator Global Assessment (IGA) and Family Dermatology Quality of Life index (FDQLI) after 12 months treatment. Importantly, the clinical improvement was accompanied by a reduction in the use of potent topical corticosteroids.
